Puck Fair, Killorglin, Kerry
This colourful fair takes place in August every year in the
town of Killorglin.
The name translates from the Irish word “Poc” for male goat,
where historically every year a group of people go into the
mountains and catch a wild goat. The goat is brought back to
town and is crowned “King Puck” by a local schoolgirl,
“Queen of the Puck”.
During the fair, the streets are lined with market stalls and at the
end of the event, the Goat is released back into the wild!
