Poulnabrone Dolmen, The Burren, Co. Clare
Poulnabrone Dolmen is a famous Neolithic monument located in the Burren region of County Clare, Ireland. It is one of the most iconic and well-preserved megalithic structures in the country, making it around 5,800 years old. It is believed to have served as a burial site, possibly for multiple generations of a Neolithic community. Human remains and artifacts have been discovered at the site during excavations. The dolmen is a megalithic portal tomb, which consists of a large, flat capstone supported by two upright stones. The capstone measures approximately 3.6 meters (12 feet) in length and rests on two upright stones that are approximately 1.8 meters (6 feet) high.
